L’interdisciplinarité dans la recherche scientifique : Orientations épistémologiques et conditions

Abstract
Devant la multiplicité des significations accordées à la notion d’interdisciplinarité, l’article entend apporter quelques clarifications d’ordre épistémologique et conceptuel pour orienter le travail de recherche scientifique. Après avoir procédé à deux distinctions de base consistant, premièrement à différencier quatre types d’interdisciplinarité – scientifique, scolaire, professionnelle, pratique – et, deuxièmement, à définir l’interdisciplinarité par rapport à d’autres notions qui lui sont associées, l’article analyse quelques postures épistémologiques en relation avec la notion. Sont d’abord abordées des clarifications conceptuelles pour distinguer le réel de la réalité et l’imaginaire, l’imagination et le symbolisme. Puis, trois conceptions épistémologiques sont traitées : l’interdisciplinarité comme domaine du fantasme ou de l’imaginaire ; l’interdisciplinarité comme réalité préexistante ; l’interdisciplinarité comme utopie et comme réalité construite. En guise de conclusion, sont avancées quelques conditions essentielles pour mettre en oeuvre une approche interdisciplinaire en recherche.
