Cette contribution interroge la réalité socio-naturelle de l’estuaire de la Seine que construisent les expériences nautiques de loisir. On s’intéresse en particulier aux médiations que produisent les spots de pratique. En quoi ces médiations territoriales et ces constructions esthétiques donnent-elles accès ou font-elles écran à une conscience du milieu estuarien ? L’article montre un estuaire morcelé, très inégalement fréquenté, et propose une typologie des principales formes de spots à l’œuvre. La mer, la Seine urbaine et la Seine des îles façonnent trois rapports aux eaux turbides du fleuve : quels sont-ils ? L’hétérogénéité des usages et des perceptions s’explique par la gestion multiscalaire de l’espace estuarien et par les horizons d’attente dans lesquels s’inscrivent les pratiques. Ce que font les publics dans la nature permet ainsi de comprendre les perceptions de l’environnement et d’interroger à nouveaux frais la gestion des écosystèmes, qu’il s’agisse de mesures compensatoires, de mesures de protection ou d’actions de reconquête.
