A esperança e qualidade de vida dos doentes em cuidados paliativos

Abstract
Objetivos: Identificar el nivel de esperanza y calidad de vida (QV) de los pacientes que viven con enfermedades crónicas avanzadas; determinar la relación entre esperanza y calidad de vida en pacientes paliativos; Correlacionar esperanza, CDV, estructura familiar y creencias espirituales/religiosas. Método: Se realizó un estudio transversal de correlaciones. La muestra constó de 132 pacientes de cuidados paliativos: 56,1% de los hombres, de edades comprendidas entre 29-96 (es decir = 67, 13; SD = 12, 02). El instrumento consistió en una entrevista estructurada de datos socio-demográficos, familiares, profesionales y clínicos; Herth Hope Index – instrumento con 12 items diseñado para medir la esperanza de vida; Cuestionario QOL McGill. Se aplicó en unidades de cuidados paliativos, guardería y hogares de pacientes de cuidado paliativos, desde septiembre de 2009 a Febrero 2010. Resultados: los pacientes evidenciaron buenos niveles de esperanza (es decir = 3, 23; Min = 1, 44; Máx = 4, 0; SD = 0, 51) y CDV en todas las dimensiones (significa entre 5,44 y 8,42; SD entre 1.93 y 2,92). Hay una correlación positiva entre CDV y esperanza revelada en las dimensiones de ambas variables (r entre 0,431 y 0,678; p≤0, 01). La estructura familiar no es estadísticamente significativa en relación con la CDV o esperanza; tampoco lo son las creencias espirituales y religiosas. Discusión/conclusión: A pesar de su enfermedad, los pacientes paliativos indican buena esperanza y niveles QOL. Esto puede estar relacionado con el apoyo que les dan los equipos de cuidados paliativos y la familia.
