Abstract
L’âge moyen des medecins canadiens etait de 50 ans l’an dernier1. L’obtention du diplome de ce medecin moyen remonte a 21 ans2, ce qui signifie que bon nombre des membres du milieu medical ont commence leur carriere professionnelle au milieu des annees 1980. La majorite de nos medecins ont commence leurs etudes de medecine avant que soient homologues les inhibiteurs de la HMG-CoA reductase et que soit identifie le virus de l’hepatite C; le sida venait tout juste d’etre classifie comme une maladie. Pendant que ces medecins suivaient leur formation, des chercheurs travaillaient encore a corriger des bogues de l’imagerie par resonance magnetique et a la coronaro-angioplastie. Ces medecins etaient aux etudes avant l’arrivee du Web. La photographie numerique etait, dans une large mesure, restreinte aux programmes spatiaux. C’etait, a bien des egards, un monde tres different. Ces medecins ont suivi leur formation au cours d’un siecle et pratiquent maintenant au cours d’un autre.
