Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

THE OCCURRENCE OF AS'fER SPINOSUS IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA Charles C. Smith. Norman, Oklahoma Wootin and Stanley2 give the range of Alter nosus Senth-. as Utah to Ca1Jlornia. Texas and New Mexico and southward with the type locallt, as far as Mexico. Munzl extends its range into Central America. The author recently found two large patches of the pla.nt growina on low sandy ridges on the flood plain of the South Canadian river, aI80Clatecl with Panfcum utrgatum, Phravndtu communta, POJ)UlUl deltol4u, I4ltz tW., Erigeron canadensUI and EquiBetum hllemale. This extends the known range of thta plant, known as Mexican DevU Weed approximately 350 miles ea.stward. The plants are growing at present on an older pOrtion of the f1ooc:l plain, beyond the Tamarix-PopUlus association which character1zel the second and third levels ot the flood plaJn ot the SOuth CanacUan river m this area. The plants appear to have been estabUahed in their preeent location for at least 11ve years. By studYing a map Bhow1ng the headwaters of the south canadian river, it may be seen that the plant has probably been brouaht from lta older range by flood waters. FUrther stUdy probably wW reveal ita presence alOJ18 the river toward its headwatel'8 aDd perhaps further down 8t~. LI'T.lmATUBa 1. Kuns. PhWp A. A Manual of SOUthern ca11t0l'D1a BotaDy. p. 681. 2. Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
