Abstract
Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar as diferentes expectativas em termos de preferências por carreira de jovens universitários, membros da chamada Geração Y. Para tanto, conduziu-se duas pesquisas no mesmo Centro Universitário, na cidade de São Paulo, com alunos de administração. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, de campo, transversal e correlacional, que investigou 220 alunos concluintes de um curso de administração, na cidade de São Paulo, sendo 80 em 2009 e 140 em 2011, respectivamente. Os dados revelaram que, embora a crença de que os jovens preferem carreiras mais desafiadoras ainda seja dominante, os resultados obtidos auxiliaram na identificação da opção por “estilo de vida” como âncora de carreira principal, com alta incidência estatística no público feminino e, por outro lado, “gerência geral” como principal âncora do público masculino, além da escolha de “autonomia e independência”, como segunda âncora de ambos os gêneros, o que confirma a tendência apontada pelos principais pesquisadores do tema Geração Y. Mesmo realizando a pesquisa com os sujeitos em 2009 e 2011, a grande maioria dos dados revelaram muitas similitudes em termos de preferências por carreira.
