2.Abstract Visual pollution is the excess of on elements to the visual communication, as posters, announcements and plates presents mainly in the great metropolises. The visual pollution reaches the population in such a way how much the environment, in such a way, this work aims at to identify to the levels of visual pollution presents in the city of “Sorocaba”, in its main regions, giving emphasis to the Center, as source of space and visual discomfort of the passer-bys, showing that the main problem is not the existence of the marketing and yes its uncontrols. As half of general awareness of the population, one brief interview with the passer-bys was made there presents regarding the subject. They had been registered through photographs, some areas with focus of visual pollution. From the analysis made with the public and of photographs taken off in the main points of the city, it can be perceived that the result was negative, therefore the inhabitants believe that the excess of propagandas does not affect in nothing, not to be as consumerism source. With this we could conclude that the population does not possess necessary information regarding the subject. In the second stage of the project, applications of questionnaires for the students of the eighth series of Basic Education had been made, of the “Escola Estadual Senador Vergueiro” , located in the quarter “Vila Hortencia”, and thus, could observe, by means of graphs, that the students are informed about what is the visual pollution, but not of the legislation existence that speaks to the respect. After that, an educative intervention was carried through, informing to the same ones, through a lecture, on causes and effect of the excess of visual communication gifts in the way where we live.
