From Data to Records: Preserving the Geographic Information System of the City of Vancouver
Bibliographic record
Abstract
It provides city staff access to a wide variety of continuously changing spatial information about the city, drawn from internal and external sources, which is used in support of both formal and informal business processes. In the first part of the article, the authors address issues related to the long-term preservation of VanMap encountered in the course of the InterPARES 2 case study conducted in 2004-2005.VanMap is examined within the context of InterPARES concepts of the record in dynamic and interactive environments, and subsequent implications in terms of establishing the essential elements of the system that must be preserved and how to relate the preserved system to the activities it supported are discussed. The second part of the article explores how the Storage Resource Broker data-grid technology developed at the San Diego Supercomputer Center might be used as a component in the overall preservation strategy. This tech nology would support maintaining the integrity and authenticity of the preserved system, and contribute to its infrastructure independence through features such as persistent namespaces.
Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
