Abstract

During 2006 the national statistics agencies for New Zealand, Canada and Australia all offered an internet response channel option for their national population census. Along with South Korea and Singapore, these represent the first adopters of the internet as a mechanism for collecting national population census data. With the rapid acceptance of the internet by the general public, and the relatively long interval between national Census in any given country, it is vital to leverage the lessons learned from these early implementations.
