Abstract
Aspects of the doctoral journey are discussed. A historical background of the doctoral process is presented. The doctoral journey is examined via a series of traits that seem prominent such as economics, logistics, time, location and relationships. Funding and the business side of this educational process are illuminated in such a way as to guide graduate students. Relationships such as the student-professor supervisory relationship are addressed as something that can impact both economics and the time of degree completion for all doctoral students. This session is an extension of the book published in 2013 entitled “The Doctoral Journey: Perseverance” (Ryan, 2013).
