La préservation des liens entre l’enfant et les personnes qui lui sont significatives, la stabilité de l’environnement, la continuité du projet de vie de l’enfant sont au cœur des nouvelles dispositions de la Loi sur la protection de la jeunesse (LPJ) du Québec. Ces modifications ont eu pour conséquence de transformer certaines dimensions de la pratique en protection de la jeunesse. Dans cette mouvance, nous avons mené une évaluation visant à en cerner les impacts sur les usagers en analysant les questions suivantes : 1) Quels sont les avantages des modifications à la LPJ pour les usagers ? 2) Quelles difficultés ces modifications posent-elles aux parents et aux enfants qui reçoivent des services ? Ces questions ont été examinées lors d’entrevues individuelles et de groupe (n = 136) menées auprès de professionnels de la protection, de comités des usagers et de familles d’accueil. Globalement, les participants jugent que les modifications ont eu plusieurs impacts positifs sur les enfants et les parents, mais des difficultés sont aussi rencontrées dont certaines pourraient être dépassées, alors que d’autres relèvent de la nature même des orientations prises dans la nouvelle loi.
