Le traducteur est le premier récepteur d’une oeuvre qu’il doit faire passer dans une culture réceptrice. Sa tâche est d’autant plus difficile s’il doit introduire dans une nouvelle zone culturelle une création ressortissant d’un milieu peu connu par les récepteurs d’arrivée. C’est à travers son interprétation, ses sentiments, ses solutions traductologiques que le public récepteur fera connaissance de nouvelles valeurs et variétés linguistiques. Et pourtant on interroge rarement les traducteurs sur leurs difficultés, leurs hésitations, leurs choix. Dans cet article on rend compte d’une expérience réalisée au sein du département des études romanes à l’Université Adam Mickiewicz (Poznan, Pologne). Six étudiantes en maîtrise se sont engagées à faire la traduction de quelques oeuvres contemporaines acadiennes, une littérature méconnue de la société polonaise. La découverte des traductrices devrait devenir une découverte des récepteurs. Pendant un an le travail de ces étudiantes a été scrupuleusement discuté et analysé dans le cadre de leurs études. Chaque remarque, chaque difficulté, chaque hésitation ont été notées et commentées. Dans ce texte on fait le point sur ce travail en présentant les sentiments, les réflexions, les conclusions résultant d’une activité concrète des traducteurs face à des valeurs nouvelles et des variations linguistiques inconnues.
