Espana se ha convertido recientemente en un pais de y se enfrenta con urgencia y con poca experiencia a los desafios derivados de este cambio estructural e irreversible. La informacion proveniente de la comparacion internacional y, en particular, de clasicos de inmigracion, puede resultar muy util para encarar este reto en los nuevos paises de como Espana y, en particular, en Cataluna. Este trabajo aporta informacion sobre experiencias, ejes y tendencias fundamentales de la accion estrategica en este terreno a partir de la comparacion transatlantica tomando como referencia el caso de Canada, uno de los paises del mundo con mas inmigracion y con mas exito en su gestion, y cuya orientacion en la gestion del fenomeno se basa en tres ejes fundamentales: integralidad, horizonte amplio y vision proactiva. El objetivo, en suma, es establecer conexiones y comparaciones entre los casos canadiense/quebeques y espanol/catalan que se considera que pueden ser de utilidad para la reflexion, el analisis y la orientacion preventiva en politica de inmigracion en nuestro propio contexto. Esta informacion resultara especialmente util a responsables politicos, tecnicos de la Administracion, investigadores, analistas y profesionales en general que trabajan directamente en el ambito de las migraciones y la interculturalidad.
