Aux paroissiennes et aux paroissiens de l'glise protestante francophone de Washington, DC. La thologie s'est toujours interroge sur son rapport la pratique.Elle se veut "intelligence de la foi", or, celle-ci est acte d'existence et non seulement de connaissance 1 .Inspir par cette remarque du thologien catholique franais Jacques Audinet, je vais rapporter des connaissances thologiques au rcit d'une pratique pastorale qui reprsente une partie de mon existence.Car en septembre 2003, quittant la Suisse et l'Institut romand de pastorale de l'Universit de Lausanne, je suis devenu pasteur de l'glise protestante francophone de Washington, DC (EPFW).Je le suis rest jusqu'en juillet 2006, date de mon installation au Canada pour occuper un poste de professeur adjoint la Facult de thologie et de sciences des religions de l'Universit de Montral.C'est cette exprience pastorale aux tats-Unis que je vais rapporter quelques rfrences thologiques pour affirmer que les glises ne peuvent tre autre chose que des communauts d'individus.Mais avant de commencer, je tiens prciser que je ne pense pas un seul instant que l'EPFW soit un modle suivre ni que mon travail ait t exemplaire.Nous, pasteur et communaut, avons connu des difficults et des checs dont je ne dirai rien ici.Je tiens toutefois signaler que pendant la dure de
