Esta nota aporta evidencia descriptiva sobre las desigualdades de género en el mercado laboral chileno en términos de participación, ingresos y segregación ocupacional. Además, describe la evolución de estas desigualdades en las últimas dos décadas y características asociadas a ellas. Encontramos que, a pesar de ser todavía alta en relación con otros países, la brecha de participación entre hombres y mujeres se fue cerrando en Chile en los últimos años, en especial entre mujeres casadas o en unión informal. En términos de ingresos, la brecha no explicada por características individuales y del empleo es elevada: los resultados del ejercicio de descomposición indican que, en promedio, la brecha que no se explica por esas variables equivale a un salario horario de las mujeres de apenas un 78% en relación al de los hombres. Finalmente, en términos de segregación ocupacional encontramos que, si bien los niveles son altos, presenta una tendencia a la reducción, en particular entre los individuos con mayor educación. El artículo refuerza que, a pesar de estos hallazgos, existen características particularmente relevantes asociadas a la participación y los ingresos que no han podido ser exploradas por limitaciones en los datos. Más aún, la ausencia de datos adicionales plantea consecuencias importantes sobre la posibilidad de diseñar e implementar políticas públicas mejor fundamentadas.
