Abstract
La intervencion de Canada en Afganistan se ha convertido en una de las prioridades en materia de politica exterior que se ha trazado el gobierno canadiense a lo largo de los ultimos anos. Es asi que lo que busca esta investigacion es analizar que aunque la OTAN constituyo el marco obligado de la actuacion de Canada en Afganistan desde el 2003, por cuanto ha seguido los principios, normas y reglas que enmarcan este regimen de seguridad como lo es la OTAN, los intereses nacionales de Canada tales como el mantenimiento de su relacion con los Estados Unidos y la construccion de su imagen internacional, fueron fundamentales para motivar esta participacion. Esta investigacion es relevante en la medida que analiza, desde la perspectiva canadiense, la construccion de la seguridad internacional por la via de la estabilizacion y la reconstruccion de Afganistan, que constituye no solo uno de los escenarios mas cruciales para hacerlo actualmente, sino tambien uno de los principales objetos de atencion de distintos gobiernos, de la opinion publica internacional y de los diversos centros de pensamiento y universidades en el mundo. Pero adquiere mayor significacion si se considera que la perspectiva canadiense en materia de seguridad internacional ha buscado constituir una logica relativamente alternativa a la impuesta por los Estados Unidos, lider en esta intervencion.
