A traves de la presente investigacion se evaluo el riesgo toxicologico por la presencia de plomo y cadmio en los suelos de ciudadelas aledanas al parque industrial de la ciudad de Cuenca (Abdon Calderon y Uncovia), para ello se determinaron las concentraciones de estos contaminantes en cinco muestras de suelo recolectadas a diferentes distancias entre la zona industrial y cada una de las ciudadelas desde 200 a 700 metros; las determinaciones se realizaron por triplicado, el metodo aplicado fue por: Digestion Acida y Absorcion Atomica;los valores promedio de plomo y cadmio obtenidos se compararon con la Norma de calidad Ambiental de Ecuador y con normativas internacionales como la EPA (Agencia de proteccion ambiental de Estados Unidos) y segun Canadian Council of Ministers of theEnvironment, observandose diferencias significativas unicamente con respecto a las concentraciones admitidas segun la Norma de calidad Ambiental del Ecuador, finalmente se realizaron los calculos de riesgo toxicologico evaluando varios parametros como: dosis de exposicion, tasa de ingesta diaria admisible, riesgo cancerigeno, EMEG (Guia de Evaluacion para Medios Ambientales); cuyos valores indican riesgo minimo para la poblacion de ninos y la ausencia de riesgo toxicologico para la poblacion de adultos, ademas se aplicaron 100 encuestas a los pobladores que habitan las zonas investigadas sobre los efectos adversos, enfermedades y su relacion con el entorno en el que viven, obteniendose datos sobre la calidad ambiental ycontaminacion existente.
