Abstract
The objectives of this study were to determine anthropometric measurements, selected nutrient intakes, and hemoglobin, hematocrit, and serum cholesterol values of 2–6 y old Korean children. Nutrient intakes were obtained from 3 consecutive 24‐h recalls in summer, 2005. Of the 131 subjects (65 boys, 66 girls) from Kwangiu, Korea, 8.4% were underweight; 76.3%, acceptable weight; 10.7%, at risk of being overweight; and 4.6%, overweight. Hemoglobin concentrations of 3.8% were <110 g/L, 4.6% had hematocrit <0.33, and 3.8% had serum cholesterol >5.17 mmol/L. Only 6.9% had higher fat intakes than Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range, and 54% were lower; cholesterol intakes of 20.6% were >300 mg/d, and 17.6% had saturated fat intakes >10% kcal.
