Cet article présente un schéma de la communication adapté à la traduction, schéma qui se dédouble au point de jonction qu'est la conscience traduisante : émetteur A (langue A) -> récepteur B (langue A) = traducteur = émetteur B' (langue B) -> récepteur C (langue B). La reconnaissance du sujet traduisant et de la pragmatique de son acte doit non seulement nous permettre de récuser, une fois pour toutes, le mythe de la transparence, mais encore de définir et d'élaborer une nouvelle compétence du traduire. Voilà les données primaires à partir desquelles devra à l'avenir œuvrer la traductologie.
