The former highly respected physician, academic, and hospital administrator Arthur T Porter—wanted by the Canadian authorities for fraud over the handling of a $C1.3bn (£0.83bn; €0.97bn; $1.26bn) hospital contract—has been arrested in Panama by Interpol. Canadian authorities are seeking the extradition of Arthur Porter, who was arrested on 27 May 2013, and his wife Pamela Mattock Porter, who was arrested one day earlier, accused of laundering the proceeds of crime and conspiracy.
