Abstract
Electrolyte and sodium penetration in carbon cathode blocks for aluminum electrolysis cells were studied in a laboratory. The materials under study were three different commercial grades of carbon blocks: a semi-graphite (20% graphite), a graphitic and a graphitised one. The electrolyte percolation through the materials was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). A mechanism involving the formation of a chemical compound at the pore surface is suggested to explain bath penetration in the carbon materials.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from it
