La croissance de 10 cultivars de rosiers de la Serie Explorateur MC , propages par culture in vitro, par bouturage et par greffage sur Rosa multiflora Thunb., a ete etudiee sous des conditions hivernales naturelles et sous des conditions hivernales extremes induites par le deneigement et l'englacement dans quatre zones climatiques du Quebec. La discrimination entre les trois modes de multiplication s'exprime au cours des deux premiers hivers pour la mortalite de plants alors qu'elle est surtout mesurable la troisieme annee d'evaluation pour les donnees de hauteur et de largeur finales, lorsque les plants se sont bien etablis. En fin d'evaluation, les plants greffes d'Alexander McKenzie et de Frontenac etaient plus courts que les plants provenant des autres modes de multiplication, ceux de Captain Samuel Holland et de John Davis etaient plus hauts, ceux d'Alexander McKenzie et de Simon Fraser etaient plus etroits et ceux d'Henry Kelsey, de John Davis et de Louis Jolliet etaient plus larges. L'evaluation de la hauteur et de la largeur finales des plants a mis en evidence l'absence de differences significatives entre les plants propages par culture in vitro et les plants propages par bouturage, quel que soit le cultivar et le site d'evaluation sous les conditions naturelles. Sous les conditions hivernales naturelles et extremes, les variations entre les hauteurs et les largeurs finales mesurees dans les differentes zones climatiques ont permis de verifier d'une part que les plants de Louis Jolliet et de Simon Fraser atteignent en trois ans une hauteur comparable, quelle que soit la zone climatique, et d'autre part que les plants evalues dans les zones 5a et 2b ont presque toujours ete favorises en terme de hauteur et de largeur finales, quel que soit le mode de multiplication.
