Évaluation de la croissance et des dommages hivernaux de Thuja occidentalis L. et de cinq de ses cultivars en réponse aux diverses conditions climatiques du nord-est canadien.Can.J. Plant Sci.82: 169-175.De jeunes plants de Thuja occidentalis L. et de cinq de ses cultivars ont été implantés en 1991 dans des sites représentant différentes zones climatiques du nord-est canadien (2 à 5).Ces plants ont été observés pendant 5 années dans le but de vérifier leur potentiel de tolérance sous diverses conditions climatiques.Les dommages hivernaux observés chaque printemps montrent que le potentiel d'acclimatation aux conditions hivernales de Thuja occidentalis L. diffère au sein de ses cultivars.Les cultivars Holmstrup, Mastersii et Lutescens ont démontré une tolérance au froid similaire à l'espèce-type; toutefois, Mastersii a montré une croissance plus importante que les deux autres cultivars en zone 2a.Le cultivar Cloth of Gold a été le plus affecté par les conditions hivernales et le cultivar Globosa Aurea a donné des résultats intermédiaires.De plus, la croissance en hauteur et en largeur des plants de l'espèce-type et de chacun de ses cultivars a été influencée par les conditions climatiques des sites.
