If you are a physics teacher, you are already a more critical observer of your surroundings than are most people, wondering what things do and how they work. Many of you may have spent time when you were younger taking apart (and sometimes reassembling) things like clocks, telephones, tractors, computers, and, in my case, a cuckoo clock (which functions at least as well as it did before my dad and I disassembled it—and at least the “cuckoo” function it was missing was recovered).
