Résumé La vision est au cœur des activités des entreprises qui se démarquent. Des données de plus en plus nombreuses indiquent en effet que lorsqu’elle est bien conçue et communiquée, la vision peut contribuer à imprimer dans l’entreprise une direction unique et appropriée. En outre, le processus d’élaboration de la vision peut représenter en soi un important facteur de mobilisation des différents acteurs organisationnels. En fait, nombre d’études associent la présence d’une vision partagée dans l’entreprise à différents indices de performance organisationnelle. Dans un contexte où la quête de productivité exerce une pression énorme sur les organisations et les personnes qui y travaillent, plusieurs entreprises recherchent des façons d’améliorer leur avantage concurrentiel tandis que de nombreux individus essaient de donner un sens à ce qu’ils y font. Conséquemment, une connaissance des pratiques visant à guider et à inspirer les organisations semble être un atout pour nombre de gestionnaires. Le but de cet article est de familiariser les gestionnaires avec les différentes dimensions de la vision, avec un processus permettant de concevoir celle-ci, avec les manières de l’articuler et de la communiquer au quotidien, et avec les facteurs contextuels justifiant une telle démarche dans l’organisation.
