Résumé L’objectif visé par la présente étude est d’expliquer les mécanismes psychosociaux qui sont à l’origine de la nostalgie du passé communiste en Europe de l’Est (ostalgie). Dans le cadre de l’étude, 42 entretiens semi-dirigés et un sondage par questionnaire auprès d’un échantillon représentatif de 1118 répondants ont été réalisés en Moldova, une ancienne république soviétique. Quatre thêmata polarisent les communications sociales sur le passé communiste : paradis/enfer, prospérité/misère, égalité/inégalité et ordre/désordre. En même temps, la nostalgie s’explique par l’expérience propre à chaque groupe social. Si un groupe social voit sa condition améliorée après les changements démocratiques, il a tendance à ne pas partager les représentations nostalgiques du passé. L’expérience des pratiques sociales joue aussi un rôle important dans l’apparition de la nostalgie du passé.
