Abstract
Il s’agit de proposer le concept de déficit comme repère méthodologique dans la traduction et la formation des traducteurs. Contrairement aux pratiques courantes qui privilégient une approche absolue de la traduction, nous essayons de préciser la portée épistémologique du concept de déficit et le grand bénéfice d’une attitude qui focalise sur l’aspect relatif de l’activité traduisante et qui favorise une meilleure appréhension de la complexité des faits linguistiques comme le figement, la polysémie et les jeux de mots, et leur impact sur la qualité de la traduction.
