Les enjeux de l’éthique de la recherche occupent une place de plus en plus importante dans la gestion de la recherche tant sur le plan international qu’à l’échelle nationale. Au Canada et au Québec, ces préoccupations ont donné lieu à plusieurs documents récents provenant d’instances régulatrices gouvernementales et paragouvernementales. Celles-ci privilégient des approches diverses : agrément fondé sur la surveillance des structures institutionnelles de l’éthique de la recherche, encadrement législatif de l’éthique ou énoncé de politique fondé sur des principes d’autorégulation des chercheurs, tout en maintenant un cadre éthique basé sur la délibération des comités d’éthique de la recherche. Ces trois principales approches sont présentées après les avoir situées dans les courants éthiques contemporains.
