Abstract
Dans cet article nous nous interrogeons sur le rôle du temps dans la configuration du discours sanitaire afin de jeter les bases théoriques d’un modèle rhétorico-narratif pour étudier les énoncés institutionnels sur le pathologique. Nous allons suivre la démarche proposée par Paul Ricœur dans son ouvrage Temps et récit afin d’intégrer la dimension temporelle dans un modèle interprétatif du discours sanitaire. Or les notions sur les temporalités de la narration soulevées par Ricœur ne suffiront pas à l’heure de rendre compte de tous les éléments engagés dans les discours sur la santé publique. Une démarche analytique inspirée par la pensée du philosophe français sert à expliquer le mode de fonctionnement du discours sur la santé sur le plan diachronique (l’articulation du passé, du futur et du présent). Par contre, la théorie sémio narrative d’Algirdas J. Greimas aide à mieux saisir la production du sens à partir de la notion de programme narratif qui sert à rendre compte de deux moments clés du parcours discursif sanitaire : le programme narratif du passé ou performance disjonctive (la reconstitution d’une mémoire commune), et celui du futur ou la performance conjonctive (la promesse d’un avenir à atteindre ou à prévenir).
