Hablamos de «educacion», en el sentido que plantea laOrganizaion Mundial de la Salud en su glosario de terminos de promocion e salud, como «logro de capacidades para desarrollar el propio otencial personal y responder de forma positiva a los retos del mbiente», y de «coercion» con el significado que le da la Real Acaemia de la Lengua: «presion ejercida sobre alguien para forzar su oluntad o su conducta; represion, inhibicion, restriccion». No entramos aqui en la educacion considerada como determiante de la salud, ni en la clara relacion entre nivel educativo y ivel de salud. Y tampoco en la coercion entendida como persuaion, ejercida especialmente en nuestra sociedad a traves de los edios de comunicacion social y las tecnologias de la informacion la comunicacion. Aportamos algunas reflexiones, sin situarlas como opciones ntagonicas, sobre el debate entre educacion y coercion en las strategias para ganar salud desde los enfoques y evidencias de a promocion de la salud1, que es nuestro campo de trabajo. Estas strategias, desde la Conferencia de Ottawa y sucesivas, y tras los eplanteamientos por su 25 aniversario, son fundamentalmente el esarrollo de las capacidades personales (intervenciones con las ersonaspara comportamientos saludables), laspoliticaspublicasy a accion social en salud (intervenciones para entornos saludables).
