<titre>R&#233;sum&#233;</titre>L&#8217;&#233;valuation de la qualit&#233; du fonctionnement mental d&#8217;un patient est sans doute l&#8217;&#233;l&#233;ment le plus d&#233;terminant dans le choix du type d&#8217;interventions th&#233;rapeutiques et des am&#233;nagements techniques du cadre analytique. Face &#224; un fonctionnement n&#233;vrotique, le psychoth&#233;rapeute s&#8217;emploie &#224; favoriser chez son patient l&#8217;&#233;mergence et l&#8217;appropriation de contenus symbolis&#233;s pr&#233;alablement refoul&#233;s&#160;; l&#8217;instrument optimal pour ce travail d&#8217;exploration et de d&#233;couverte est le dispositif psychanalytique classique. Avec un fonctionnement non n&#233;vrotique, le th&#233;rapeute tente de faciliter chez son patient la transformation de contenus non symbolis&#233;s&#160;; il doit alors r&#233;duire la teneur en symbolique de la situation analytique pour &#171;&#160;rencontrer&#160;&#187; ces &#233;l&#233;ments non symboliques, soit par des am&#233;nagements du cadre analytique, soit par l&#8217;adoption d&#8217;une attitude &#171;&#160;mall&#233;able&#160;&#187; et activement soutenante.
