Abstract
Traditionnellement prescriptifs, les écrits sur la traduction cherchent en grande partie à éclairer le praticien sur la manière de traduire. À partir de l’hypothèse suivante : la configuration du système littéraire propre à un état de société impose des contraintes sur le choix des oeuvres que l’on traduit et sur la manière de les traduire, on étudiera un corpus de pièces de théâtre traduites au Québec. On montrera comment l’acceptabilité littéraire des textes étrangers dans un nouvel environnement socioculturel est tributaire de la fonction que ces textes sont appelés à remplir dans le « polysystème » de la littérature d’accueil.
