Les espces en pril sont sensibles aux effets gntiques de la fragmentation, d'une petite taille de population et de la consanguinit. Une gestion efficace requiert une comprhension approfondie de leurs systmes d'accouplement et de leur diversit gntique. Centrocercus urophasianus est une espce de type lek qui a subi un dclin de - % au cours des dernires annes en Alberta. Nos objectifs taient d'valuer la diversit gntique chez cette espce en Alberta et de dterminer le degr de parent spcifique au sexe dans les leks et entre ceux-ci. Pour ce faire, individus chantillonns en - ont t gnotyps loci microsatellites. Les niveaux de diversit gntique taient levs, l'exception d'un lek rcemment form, et n'ont pas vari dans le temps. Dans l'ensemble, nous n'avons pas observ d'isolement par la distance entre les leks et la plupart des leks n'taient pas diffrencis les uns des autres, ce qui suggre qu'un flux de gnes se produit dans toute la zone d'tude. Les mles et les femelles prsentaient des patrons d'isolement par la distance similaires; la dispersion n'tait donc pas spcifique au sexe. Globalement, le niveau de parent s'approchait de zro pour les deux sexes l'chelle de la province, du lek et de l'anne, ce qui suggre qu'aucun des sexes ne forme d'association marque entre parents. Toutefois, nous avons trouv que les liens de parent dans le lek l'chelle de l'anne taient suprieurs zro, ce qui indique une variation interannuelle. Nous n'avons trouv aucune preuve que C. urophasianus suit le patron avien typique de philopatrie des mles. Bien que l'espce soit en pril en Alberta et qu'elle soit prsente dans des habitats fragments, elle a su maintenir une diversit gntique et une connectivit.
