Résumé Dans le cadre des activités commerciales des entreprises, la fonction marketing fait face chaque jour à des questionnements d’ordre éthique. Pour aider les gestionnaires à déterminer le caractère acceptable de leurs décisions sur le plan éthique, cet article propose une revue succincte des écrits en matière d’éthique en marketing, revoyant plusieurs lentilles à travers lesquelles les actions peuvent être appréhendées – la légalité, la morale, l’utilitarisme, le devoir ainsi que le contrat social et la réciprocité. Se fondant ensuite sur la théorie du jugement moral de Ricœur – qui prévoit quatre niveaux d’analyse, soit le niveau prémoral (centré sur le bien-être de l’individu), le niveau conventionnel (sur le bien-être du groupe), le niveau supérieur (sur la préservation d’un système de référence légal ou social) et le niveau de la responsabilité sociale (sur le bien-être de toutes les parties prenantes) –, un cadre d’analyse est exposé. Celui-ci décrit une approche «quantifiée» fournissant une indication rationnelle quant au caractère éthique, douteux sur le plan éthique ou encore contraire à l’éthique d’une action contemplée par un gestionnaire. Cette méthode pourra susciter une réflexion approfondie chez les gestionnaires. Ce cadre d’analyse est ensuite illustré au moyen de trois cas sensibles, soit le cas des produits potentiellement nocifs pour la santé, le cas des produits nocifs pour l’environnement et le cas des produits nuisant à la préservation de la culture et de la société.
