Résumé Cet article présente une expérience de formation qui visait à stimuler et à orienter une réflexion sur le métier de gestionnaire auprès des cadres d’une grande entreprise. Pour les grandes entreprises, qui portent le poids historique d’une organisation largement bureaucratisée, les années 1990 ont été le signal d’un passage difficile à une plus grande flexibilité. Il est devenu de plus en plus ardu de faire une bonne gestion. La vice-présidence service à la clientèle de Bell Québec, dont les 650 cadres ont participé à cette formation, résulte de la fusion, en 1999, du service à la clientèle et des activités de raccordement du client au réseau. Ce texte présente le contenu, la démarche pédagogique et le suivi que nous avons mis au point avec la vice-présidente et son équipe de direction. La qualité de la préparation et du suivi n’aurait pu être la même sans l’utilisation des sites Internet que nous avons développés. L’intérêt de cette expérience de formation tient à son impact sur l’organisation, en particulier à la réflexion suscitée sur la place de la compétence technique dans les rôles de gestion. Le lecteur pourra prendre connaissance de la volonté de changement exprimée dans le questionnaire de suivi et d’un premier bilan des activités au sein de la vice-présidence.
