Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We present a measurement of the top-quark mass in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ which uses events with an inclusive signature of missing transverse energy and jets. The event selection is sensitive to $t\overline{t}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{W}^{+}b{W}^{\ensuremath{-}}\overline{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}l\ensuremath{\nu}bq{q}^{\ensuremath{'}}\overline{b}$ independent of the lepton flavor and results in a large acceptance for $W\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\nu}$ decays. All-hadronic $t\overline{t}$ decays and events with identified electrons or muons are vetoed to provide a statistically independent sample with respect to all previous measurements. The top-quark mass is inferred from the distribution of the scalar sum of all jet transverse energies and the missing transverse energy. Using $311\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of integrated luminosity recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab, we measure a top-quark mass ${m}_{t}={172.3}_{\ensuremath{-}9.6}^{+10.8}(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}10.8(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$. While the uncertainty on ${m}_{t}$ is larger than that of other measurements, the result is statistically uncorrelated with those of other methods and thus can help to reduce the overall ${m}_{t}$ uncertainty when combined with other existing measurements.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
