Résumé Cet article présente l’analyse que nous avons faite des résultats d’une enquête canadienne intitulée Enquête sur le milieu de travail et les employés (EMTE), qui demandait aux participants s’ils remplissent des fonctions liées à leur emploi à la maison et pour quels motifs ils font du travail à domicile. Les principaux résultats montrent que le quart des salariés canadiens font du travail à domicile et que ce sont davantage les exigences des employeurs que les considérations de conciliation emploi-famille qui poussent les employés à travailler à la maison. En outre, les salariés âgés de moins de 24 ans travaillent peu à domicile, alors que les gestionnaires et les professionnels le font davantage et ils sont aussi mieux équipés pour le faire. Par ailleurs, les personnes qui apportent du travail à domicile font environ cinq heures de travail par semaine, au-delà de leurs heures régulières, ce qui peut être préoccupant du point de vue du débordement du travail sur le temps personnel. L’article présente finalement des implications et des recommandations, entre autres pour assurer une meilleure diffusion du travail à domicile, sans débordement sur le temps personnel.
