Abstract
中性／アルカリ抄造は北米，ヨーロッパで，引き続き開発され多くの紙，板紙の分野で，実施されている。現在北米では70％以上，ヨーロッパでは80％以上，中南米では65％以上が中性／アルカリ抄造化されている。排水負担の軽減や故紙の利用，填料の変更，品質の向上など，様々な理由で，中性／アルカリ抄造化に踏みきっている。これらの世界的な経験は，アジア パシフィック市場へも，基礎的な中性／アルカリ抄造技術として，提供できるであろう。また機能性，プロセス化学薬品の顕著な進歩や適用技術は，この中性／アルカリ抄造化傾向をサポートしてきた。サイズ剤，濾水歩留剤，デポジットコントロール剤等の発展である。しかしこれらの総合的な薬品適用技術が，この中性／アルカリ抄造化には必要である。さらに経済性，生産性，品質特性，環境問題も含めたトータルコーディネーション的な考え方が，中性／アルカリ抄造化には重要である。本稿ではサイズ剤の市場動向を示し，特に今日のASAサイズ剤の改良点と，実際にASAサイズ処方を適用した中性／アルカリ抄造化を実施例であげ，改善されたポイントを示した。
