<titre>Le recours &#224; l&#8217;avortement provoqu&#233; &#224; Lom&#233; (Togo). &#201;volution et r&#244;le dans la r&#233;duction de la f&#233;condit&#233;</titre>En d&#233;pit d&#8217;une modification r&#233;cente de la loi sur l&#8217;avortement au Togo, cette derni&#232;re demeure restrictive et l&#8217;avortement provoqu&#233; s&#8217;y pratique essentiellement de fa&#231;on ill&#233;gale. En combinant une m&#233;thode indirecte (r&#233;siduelle) et une m&#233;thode directe, cette &#233;tude estime l&#8217;&#233;volution du recours &#224; l&#8217;avortement &#224; Lom&#233;, la capitale togolaise. Elle s&#8217;int&#233;resse aussi aux changements intervenus dans le calendrier et la fr&#233;quence du recours &#224; l&#8217;avortement selon les g&#233;n&#233;rations. Elle d&#233;termine enfin le r&#244;le relatif de l&#8217;avortement dans la baisse de la f&#233;condit&#233; &#224; Lom&#233;. L&#8217;article utilise les donn&#233;es des Enqu&#234;tes d&#233;mographiques et de sant&#233; de 1988 et de 1998, et celles de l&#8217;Enqu&#234;te sur la planification familiale et l&#8217;avortement provoqu&#233; de 2002. Les r&#233;sultats sugg&#232;rent que le recours &#224; l&#8217;avortement est en hausse dans la capitale togolaise. Le nombre d&#8217;avortements y est particuli&#232;rement important parmi les jeunes g&#233;n&#233;rations, qui montrent un risque plus &#233;lev&#233; de recourir &#224; un avortement que leurs a&#238;n&#233;es aux m&#234;mes &#226;ges. Une partie de la r&#233;gulation des naissances serait ainsi assur&#233;e par l&#8217;avortement, qui est principalement employ&#233; en d&#233;but de vie f&#233;conde et entra&#238;ne une r&#233;duction d&#8217;au moins 10,8&#160;% de la f&#233;condit&#233; potentielle.
