We compute explicitly the probability <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mi>p</mml:mi><mml:mi>j</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:mrow></mml:math> that the chain, starting from <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mn>1</mml:mn><mml:mo>+</mml:mo><mml:mi>j</mml:mi><mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi><mml:mi>x</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math>, will hit N before 1, as well as the expected number <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mi>d</mml:mi><mml:mi>j</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:mrow></mml:math> of transitions needed to end the game. In the limit when <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi><mml:mi>x</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math> and the time <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi><mml:mi>t</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math> between the transitions decrease to zero appropriately, the Markov chain tends to a geometric Brownian motion. We show that <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mi>p</mml:mi><mml:mi>j</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:mrow></mml:math> and <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mi>d</mml:mi><mml:mi>j</mml:mi></mml:msub><mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi><mml:mi>t</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math> tend to the corresponding quantities for the geometric Brownian motion.
