Desde la publicación de su primer y (hasta ahora) único tomo, muchos han dado por perdidos los materiales encuestados para el Atlas Lingüístico de la Península Ibérica a partir de 1931 bajo la dirección de Tomás Navarro Tomás, una aparente desaparición que significaba una gran pérdida para la dialectología hispánica. Tras una búsqueda de varios años, el autor encuentra todos los cuadernos de encuesta del ALPI en diferentes lugares de España. Los cuadernos de encuesta contienen datos brutos de gran valor científico, sobre todo desde el punto de vista histórico, así como para las tendencias recientes en dialectología morfosintáctica. Para dar a conocer estos materiales a la comunidad científica sin la necesidad de una laboriosa retranscripción de los datos, se propone publicar electrónicamente en Internet las imágenes escaneadas de los cuadernos originales. Se espera así lograr no sólo ahorros considerables de tiempo y gastos, sino también una mayor fidelidad a las transcripciones originales.
