The area under study comprises the northern extension of the prolific Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. The Geological Survey of Canada has completed its first comprehensive exploration play-based quantitative petroleum assessment analysis of the region. This case study examines the techniques employed to obtain various probability distribution inputs for evaluating exploration play potential and individual undiscovered pool sizes. Abstract Le corridor du Mackenzie, une région englobant d’épaisses successions du Protérozoïque et du Phanérozoïque, le long du projet de passage du pipeline de la vallée du Mackenzie, constitue une région pionnière d’importance en matière de pétrole dans le Nord canadien. La région étudiée comprend la prolongation nord du bassin sédimentaire prolifique de l’Ouest canadien. La Commission géologique du Canada a complété sa première évaluation et analyse quantitatives des zones d’exploration pétrolière de la région. La présente étude de cas examine les techniques employées pour obtenir diverses données de distribution des probabilités afin d’évaluer les zones d’exploration pétrolière potentielles et les dimensions individuelles non découvertes des gisements.
