Abstract
Saison de la migration vers le nord est un roman arabe de l'écrivain soudanais Taïeb Salah. Il repose sur une diglossie qui se manifeste, d'un côté, par l'arabe soutenu de la narration et, de l'autre, par une mosaïque de niveaux informels et régionaux plus ou moins décodables selon l'origine du lecteur arabophone. Les deux traductions françaises de ce roman sont linguistiquement plus dépouillées. Leurs textes se partagent entre, d'une part, le français soutenu du récit et, de l'autre, des niveaux informels qui ont tous l'avantage d'être accessibles à tout lecteur francophone. Cette différence de niveaux delangue entre l'original et la traduction aboutit-elle pour autant à une traduction infidèle?
