1Veprenant les mots de Henry James, Nancy Huston crit dans Nord perdu que chaque exil a la conviction, profondment ancre dans son subconscient tout en tant rgulirement dnonce comme une aberration par sa conscience, qu'il existe une partie de lui-mme, ou pour mieux dire un autre lui-mme, qui continue de vivre l-bas (p. 109). partir des positions de l'auteure sur le sujet, cette tude se prsente comme un dialogue entre Nancy Huston et moimme et se propose d'examiner en quoi l'exil contribue la d/construction des identits culturelles. Il va de soi que l'exil place l'tranger face toute une problmatique de l'entre-deux (deux langues, deux cultures) et renvoie celuici l'enfance. Huston parle de formes de mutilation et de faux-semblants ou de mascarade. Quelle est alors la mesure du partage et de l'change dans cette rencontre avec cette culture qui ne nous reconnat qu'en position d'altrit? Srie de passages, de confluences, ou encore de liaisons dangereuses en ce qu'elles menacent l' authenticit , comme si elle existait, en ce qu'elles occasionnent autant de pertes que de gains.
