Abstract
Contexte : Au Canada, le développement d’une compétence éthique est devenu une exigence des organismes d’agrément pour les programmes des facultés de médecine. Cependant, les composantes de cette compétence sont rarement explicitées. But et méthode : S’inspirant des multiples approches éducatives expérimentées en Amérique du Nord depuis 20 ans, les auteurs proposent un modèle intégré de la compétence éthique dont l’axe transversal est le dialogue. Résultats : Le modèle dialogique est orienté vers l’action, car c’est elle qui interpelle le clinicien. Or l’action qui comporte des habiletés d’identification, de délibération et de décision, est d’abord ancrée dans la sensibilité du clinicien aux enjeux éthiques et dans l’environnement de la pratique clinique. L’appropriation de ce modèle fait appel au développement d’habiletés réflexives et de communication. Conclusion : Ce modèle peut orienter l’élaboration de programmes de formation en éthique clinique et s’appliquer aux divers stades de la formation médicale ainsi qu’à toutes les autres professions de la santé, en guidant l’action quotidienne lors de situations particulières et inédites.
