Bien des chercheurs en éducation ont été portés à soutenir et à professer que seule l’approche quantitative pouvait présenter assez de garanties pour faire d’une recherche en éducation une recherche sérieuse et fiable. L’auteur, après avoir résumé ce qu’il entend par approche quantitative et approche qualitative, analyse les circonstances qui ont conduit à un changement de paradigme dans les sciences de l’éducation; il en vient à la conclusion qu’un nouveau paradigme est peut-être en voie d’apparaître.
