Abstract
Con el propósito de sentar un diagnóstico de la situación actual de los ríos del litoral y la amenaza creciente que pende sobre el agotamiento de sus cauces, se pasa revista al proceso de su reactivación natural y se destaca la importancia de la hidrografía fluvial del litoral ecuatoriano; se ilustra la constitución cíclica y eco-sistémica de sus ríos; su función de sustento del suelo productivo y la emergente afectación social, que el autor da en llamar antropogénesis hidrofílica (enfermedad del agua causada por el hombre), proponiendo sus rectificaciones culturales, orientadas a una práctica social conservacionista, en salvaguarda de la calidad viable de sus aguas corrientes, de las especies ictiológicas que contienen y del caudal ordenado y profuso de sus cauces; éstos, dirigidos a estimular la fertilidad de sus suelos como fuente de su humectación por regadíos para asegurar la seguridad y soberanía alimentaria en el Ecuador. Finalmente, se advierte en este análisis, el signo inicial de una proyección cultural hacia una mayor comprensión ciudadana de los ecosistemas fluviales, a partir de la aplicación social de los fundamentos jurídicos introducidos en la reciente Constitución Política de la República que reconoce los derechos de la naturaleza como consustanciales a la vigencia de los derechos humanos fundamentales.
