Tout au long de 2001, une équipe de chercheurs et de cliniciens, soutenus par Santé Canada, ont développé des lignes directrices pour les meilleures pratiques relatives aux troubles concomitants de santé mentale et d’alcoolisme et de toxicomanie. Cet article décrit tout d’abord l’importance des meilleures pratiques pour Santé Canada pour ensuite retracer le processus de recherche et de consultation qui a été suivi par l’équipe de rédaction. On espère que ces éléments méthodologiques pourront servir de référence pour le développement de meilleures pratiques pour d’autres problématiques en santé mentale. Cet article ne résumera pas le contenu des lignes directrices pour les meilleures pratiques qui sont l’objet de la monographie, si ce n’est pour illustrer par des exemples ce que l’on veut transmettre au lecteur 1 .
