Cet article présente une argumentation à l'appui de la recherche collaborative et une analyse des conditions de réalisation de ce modèle de partenariat en gérontologie. La praticabilité (pertinence, excellence, intégration des savoirs et réflexivité) et les composantes structurelles (organisationnelles, instrumentales, valorielles) sont examinées sur la base d'une recension des écrits et d'une expérience concrète de recherche collaborative (projet GRAPPA). La recherche collaborative est définie comme une stratégie planifiée d'investigation scientifique et d'intervention et une stratégie d'intégration des connaissances visant à accroître le niveau de compétence des participants en vue d'apporter des solutions novatrices, efficaces et efficientes aux problèmes émanant de la pratique professionnelle.
