Perceptions étudiantes comparées de deux formes d’enseignement programmé

Abstract
Deux groupes expérimentaux d’étudiants en 3ème année de Médecine reçurent une série de quatre cours de cardiologie, l’un (Groupe A) sous forme d’un cours programmé sur papier avec supports audio-visuels, l’autre (Groupe B) à l’aide d’un système complet d’enseignement assisté par ordinateur (EAO), où un terminal avec écran cathodique remplaçait les documents sur papier. Les perceptions des étudiants de chaque groupe furent recueillies à l’aide d’un questionnaire de 47 items (57 dans le groupe B) qui utilisait une approche dérivée pour mesurer l’insatisfaction des étudiants, soit l’écart entre leurs perceptions de la réalité et leurs désirs. L’analyse des résultats met en évidence bon nombre de points communs aux deux situations pédagogiques, tant au plan des zones de grande satisfaction que celles de forte insatisfaction. Par ailleurs, contrairement aux attentes, le Groupe B se révèle globalement moins satisfait que le Groupe A. L’examen des sept items où le groupe B se déclare significativement plus insatisfait que le groupe A montre que la source de cette insatisfaction tiendrait à la trop grande rigidité du programme EAO rédigé, dont la structure linéaire ne permet ni branchements ni retours en arrière au gré de l’étudiant.
